One-to-one attention is provided in individual counselling where client and therapist work collaboratively in an atmosphere that is compassionate, supportive, and confidential. Therapeutic conversations allow clients to gain understanding and insight, while fostering the development of new skills to manage personal, family and social challenges.
Couple/Relationship counselling is offered in a setting in which both partners can safely explore perceptions and expectations of the relationship, understand their unique challenges and strengths, and begin to work together toward change. Relationship work supports couples as they identify problematic patterns, improve communication, build closer and more intimate connection, and work together to find solutions. Some areas we explore may include frequent arguments, anger, blaming and defensiveness, guilt, sex, intimacy, infidelity, unfulfilled emotional needs, financial concerns, parenting, life transitions or a relationship crisis. At Concordia Counselling we work with married and unmarried couples of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
Introducing another positive adult into a child's life can provide the opportunity for increased understanding and lasting change. We are honored to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for young people and their families and to help give support during times of transition and change. Through the use of talk therapy, play therapy and art therapy, we help young people overcome difficulties at home or in school that may include challenges related to separation and divorce, sadness, depression, worry and anxiety, self-harm, drugs and alcohol, low self-esteem, body image and eating disorders, bullying, peer relationships and losing a loved one.
Family Therapy supports all family members to engage in conversations that are safe and understanding of each others' experiences and views while appreciating each others' needs. Families find new ways of building undiscovered strengths as they make positive changes in relationships. Family Therapy focuses on remaining inclusive and considerate of the needs of everyone in the family, recognizing strengths and building resources, and being sensitive to all diverse family forms, beliefs and cultures.
